Sometimes we feel stuck in old patterns, habits, roles or identities. To renew yourself, bring back movement & play.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis or hypnotherapy, is a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration. You are guided into this deep state of focus and relaxation with verbal cues and imagery. When you’re under hypnosis, this intense level of concentration and focus allows you to set aside your rational, conscious, mind and activates the unconscious mind to find resources to solve a problem.
In the deep state of focus and relaxation that’s achieved with hypnosis:
Your conscious mind is quieted.
You’re able to tap into the part of your brain where your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, sensations, emotions, memory and behaviors originate.
In this state, you’re more open to gentle guidance from your hypnotherapist to help you modify or replace the unconscious thoughts that are driving your current behavior.
IMPORTANT: Hynosis is NOT a medical treatment. For physical symptomes, such as migraines or chronic pains, a medical assessment should always be prioritized first to make sure there are no underlying conditions. In cases of psychiatric episodes or if you are currently under drug treatment, a letter from your psychiatrist is mandatory to ensure he/she/they find it safe for you to seek hypnotherapy.
How does it work?
A hypnotherapist is mostly concerned with changing how a person’s unconscious mind automatically acts. You unconscious mind runs most of the processes in your body and automatically reacts to things, much faster than your conscious mind. Think about the last time you stepped on a moving escalator in the automatic stairs of an international airport. When it's broken, you know it won't move, yet your body will feel unbalanced, as if preparing for an acceleration. Your brain is firing entrenched neural pathways that lead to specific reactions.
In a work situation, these unconscious reponses can look like:
Feeling anxiety as you open up your emails in the morning or after as you receive feedback
Getting sweaty or uncomfortable when you know you have to give a presentation
Feeling alone and unsafe, despite being part of a team and a larger organization
Suffering from chronic migraines/pain or panick attacks
What is it good for?
Hypnotherapy re-creates movement in your mind, heart and body. It creates the conditions for your creativity, playfulness and intuitions to flow. It is helpful in many cases, you will see some examples below. It is notably used to treat post-traumatic stress syndromes, anxiety and helps reduce symptoms like insomnia or chronic pain:
Tapping into your emotions: turning them into allies vs. limitations
Relieving anxiety or burn-out
Healing from a traumatic event or experience
Transitioning to a new job/role/location
Becoming or growing as a parent
Strategy design and vision
Mind-body alignment to purpose
Working together as a team (values driven team culture)
Scaling-up your team
How do I know if this approach is right for me or my team?
Let's chat some more about that, feel free to send me a message directly. In the meantime, here are what I've seen as core motivations amongst my clients:
You've already engaged in some other forms of therapy, but the behavior you'd like to change is still here or you feel stuck despite multiple attempts
You feel a misalignment between what your rationale mind tells you and how you feel inside (eg., when you stay at a job because you see its perks but it does not fulfill you)
You're curious to regain control on how your brain functions to find more freedom of choice in your actions and reactions to triggers
You want more play, imagination and creativity in your life
You want to learn new tools that you can use on your own, after our work together, throughout your life
